First release
- Keeps the Windows default audio device set to the best one that is actually plugged in - speakers and microphone both.
- You decide the order: a small JSON file at
C:\ProgramData\AudioSwytch\config.json names each device by a fragment of its name and ranks it. The lowest number wins.
- Watches Windows audio endpoints, so it reacts as devices are plugged in, removed or switched on, and falls back to the next device on your list.
- Edit the rules and they take effect immediately - no restart and no logging out.
- Runs in the system tray and starts at logon as a scheduled task. It needs administrator rights to install, but none to run.
- Pause the watcher from the tray menu when you want to set a device by hand.
- 7-day free trial on each machine, then a licence per device. Seats are managed in the console, and a device can release its own seat.
- Windows 10 and Windows 11. Requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.
